And the ((software freedom day)) pictures (component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,50/catid,19/) are up as ELUG (/www.elug.co.za) turned the ((atlas mall)) in ((Boksburg)) into ground zero for the ((east rand)) celebrations of ((gnu)), ((unix)), ((linux)) and all the other good stuff. Of course most of the people there were ((Benoni)) boys, even if some of us are still more like Benoni ((n00bs)) (this being a clever self-refferential joke). So go ogle a bunch of ((geeks)) getting their ((groove)) on and explaining to absolutely everyone who will listen (and everyone who won't mind you) the importance of freedom in the ((digital world)) while I also ((celebebrate)) the most ((tagged)) post I have ever done. No I'm not starting a ((habit)), I'm just joking around – it's about ((freedom)) after all, and this is my blog and I ((can if I want to))
After much hassling and tossing with the everybody from the United States Consulate through travel agents and several airlines – things are finally official. This coming Thursday I am leaving for San Francisco, which I will reach on Friday morning. During the following week I will be in a workshop for a customer with several other developers, which is the main reason for my going there. As a little bonus, Silvia's airmiles means she can join me there, so the weekend, and the evenings will be spent in that most glorious of states: hugging the woman I love. If any of my net.friends.list.members are in SFO at the time, pop me an e-mail and we'll go have some beers one evening.

Self-reviews: OpenLab 4.Z Beta
Atang1, (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t ct=res cd=1 url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tuxmachines.org%2Fblog%2F203 ei=vNsFRd6HLoe-2wKq5KnDCQ sig=__ouesKN5ilUGcWPY0XGq-Knk61sg= sig2=8yP6xfQePEunqvBuNwyr6Q) one of the nice guys over at tuxmachines (http:/www.tuxmachines.org) asked me once more to do my own review of the newest OpenLab release. A repeated honour which I am happy to oblige.
As promissed, pictures of ((BarCampJozi)) now uploaded to the gallery. (component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,50/catid,18/) You should also have a look at Mike's pix (http://www.mikestopforth.com) for a different view.
Headed out to ((barcampjozi)) today with Denis and Jared. The day started off much funlly with a screeing of ((elephants dream)). Shortly afterward, Denis talked briefly about Haiti and handed a bunch out. In a bizarre first ever occurrence – one of our fellow geeks actually made us sign his copies – all three of them – that was cool. Then I handed out OpenLab disks for the break-the-beta session, got a bit of usefull feedback -and the likelihood of more to follow as people play with it. In this regard, look out for a surprize in the next few weeks. For now, my lips are sealed. To me the most interesting sessions was ((Mike Stopforth)), the web-2.0 addict whose indepth knowledge actually converted me a bit – hence the newly added digg and del.icio.us buttons up top (use them please), and ((Danie Roux)) who has a knack for conveying the energy of eXtreme Programming I had not hitherto encountered. I've known Danie for many years, we were at Varsity and in PLUG together – and we still meet up now and then, but this was the first time I saw him present. I loved it. I've been a fan of XP for years, and Danie has gotten very good at conveying that something that makes it fun. I took a bunch of pics which I will upload on Monday.
