I haven’t gotten round to talking about it yet, but 2 days ago when I was writing a post I got a little warning telling me that wordpress 2.5 was released and I should please upgrade.
So I did, which was a fairly painless process I am happy to say. The first few seconds on the new admin side was a bit of a shocker though as most of the look and feel changed rather radically and it took me a moment to find stuff. For example the settings, plugin and users menus are now little menus on the far right no longer tabs on the main control panel – and at first I was completely lost because of this.
Once I got used to it however, I started to like it more and more, you can see that the gang has been pretty hard at work. There’s a host of new features (the link above lists them so I won’t go into them) and the new look is actually much more productive.
I would say the best bit now however is the TinyMCE actually doesn’t suck anymore so I no longer need fckeditor to get decent layouts (trouble with fck is it’s way too huge so it takes forever to load and it looks too much like MS-Word which I don’t use so I can never find the right damn buttons).
Anyway, on the user-side of things not much has changed so things are pretty much the same as it always was. If you are a wordpress blogger though I highly recommend this upgrade and if you are not, you should really consider it.
