The 30-day song challenge: day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

What an interestingly different question. It took some thinking to even remember what songs I was particularly listening to at that time. It was re-released as an unplugged duette with Amy Lee not long before that as well, and I'm torn between the two versions as they are both really, really good.

I decided to post the Amy Lee version though since I love Evanessence and didn't get to use them in this challenge.

Well in my childhood my parents were mad about ABBA. Seriously crazy about it. So the songs I remember best from my childhood were ABBA songs. Yes, I feel sorry for myself too. Either way, you're getting ABBA today. I promise the final one will be better.

The song that instantly came to my mind for this is my chosen answer to this topic. Why it makes me feel guilty is something I'd rather not blog about – we all have things in our past we wish we could have done differently. It's decidedly not my usual style of music, but it was a favorite of somebody who was special once upon a time.

Mmm, tough one – there are so many. This one stands quite high up (and I've been wanting to use this band) – and I think I shall have to learn it soon.

Now I could cheat here and use an incurable song – but I don't have any recordings with good drumming at hand so I won't. Instead I'll choose a song we're busy working on a cover for. As it is I am in fact cheating as I completely rewrote the drumming for it. The original is absolutely excellent but my version works as well and it gives it an interestingly different feel (a bit more grungy).

It's a beautiful song, a rare slow song from a lady more famous for her fast-paced rock and roll. I give you the queen of rock and roll, the woman that Stevie Nicks wants to be when she grows up:

I skipped yesterday so here is another one today to get back up to speed.

Oh I have been hoping for an excuse to use this song. It's sheer unadultared awesomeness and also a lot of hilarity. Caution advised the lyrics are very NSFW but it's so worth it ! It deserves to be deemed one of the all-time great rock powerbalads but it won't be because it's a parody, but it's a brilliant parody. This was an easy one, I chose it a long time ago – and made sure my best friends and family know. I have no funeral wishes at all, do whatever helps you heal – but there is one thing I want… before you finish play this song – as loud as possible. The 30-day song challenge: day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding

Wow, this one was remarkably easy. I've known the answer for a very long time. The only trouble is, I already used it in a previous part of this challenge. It would have been Willie Deville with Storybook Love, but since it's used, I guess I get to add another song I would love to play at my wedding.

It is one of the all time great rock and roll classics, a ballad for the ages. The fact that a former Idols winner covered it (horribly) doesn't change that.
