Death to the poet

Death to the poet
Who makes you laugh
With limericks and lines

Death to the poet
Who calms your wrath
With empty love poems
And sweet little rhymes

Death to the poet
Whose words make you smile
With tales of forests
And rabbits and birds

Death to the poet
Who dares to beguile
Your children with fairy tales
In poetic words

Death to the poet
Who tries to seduce
Young ladies with honey on his tongue
And perfumed love letters to read

Death to the poet
Who otherwise use
His talent to juggle his words
Not fulfilling its need

He betrays his art
He abandons his duty
To reveal bitter truths if they hurt
He spreads ignorance
He halters the hero
Laying Persian tapestries over the dirt
