No Longer Vertigo

The very first girl I ever loved, wrote a poetry collection called “Vertigo” – which – when she broke my heart as puppy love invariably does – inspired me to write this. Surprizingly, I still like it many years later, it was based on the Shakespearean sonnet form, but I deliberate broke one of the cardinal rules – can you spot it ?

You wanna fall but you can’t
Cos I’m holding on to your hand
You rip lose with all your might
You don’t look down you ignore the height

No longer vertigo
Just don’t know where to go
I lay myself as a bridge before you and you burn it
Whatever we get in this life we earn it
So if you stay stuck in the tarpit
Just remember, you earned it
